  • Three comic panels of a white set of stairs against a black background. In the first frame the top of the stairs begins on the left side of the frame and they move down towards the right side of the frame, where a turtle looks up at the bottom of the stairs. In the second frame a second turtle appears, at the top of the stairs, looking down at the turtle at the base of the stairs. Both seem perplexed. In the third panel, resigned, each turtle has turned around and begins heading its separate way.

  • Three comic panels of two sets of white stairs against a black background, on the left and right of the frame. In the first panel yellow arrows above them point down at them. In the second panel more arrows have arrived, and some have turned jagged, resembling lightning bolts or arrows. They begin to lodge in the stairs, where cracks form. In the third panel they utterly cover the stairs, which have been turned into ramps by the arrows and bolts.

  • Three comic book panels. In the first, a few red stairs can be seen outside a gray building door. A blue thought bubble emerges from the red stairs, though it is empty. The words “When I go out it’s as if the steps are all bright red. It’s as if they are all talking about me,” accompany the panel. In the second panel, many different sized and shaped sets of stairs appear, all red, and all with different thought bubbles that are empty emerging. Text in the panel reads “but I don’t know what they are saying.” In the third panel, next to the stairs, the silhouettes of able-bodied pedestrians have appeared, as well as Sunaura Taylor in a power chair. Text in the panel reads “Of course it’s not only the stairs. They are manifestations of something much more sinister. Discrimination.”
